To promote the friendly exchanges and cooperation between Ningxia and Tunisa, the General Office of Ningxia People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries held an online meeting on Ningxia-Tunisa friendly exchanges?recently. Attendees of the meeting included Professor Abdellatif Hannachi?from the University of Kairouan, who is also a senior adviser for the government of Kairouan Governorate, Dr. Ezzeddine Jebali, Chairman of Tunisia-China Friendship Association, and He Yujiang, Director of the General Office of Ningxia People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. ?
In the meeting, the two sides looked back at their?exchanges and cooperation over the past years and discussed future cooperation possibilities in?education and healthcare, which will be the focus of?the?“international friendship city +” program. Professor Abdellatif Hannachi?said that Kairouan Governorate values its friendly relations with Ningxia and stands ready to facilitate the development of partnerships between the University of Kairouan and Ningxia’s universities. He suggested online academic sharing with a view to promoting personnel training and exchange. The two sides also reached a consensus on healthcare exchanges and cooperation by leveraging their advantages against the backdrop of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. More fruitful results will be delivered via the sharing of medical resources, medical personnel exchanges, and promotion of traditional Chinese medicine in Tunisia.
Ningxia and Kairouan Governorate established friendly relations in 2013. The past nine years witnessed frequent people-to-people exchanges and pragmatic cooperation. Official delegations from Ningxia visited Tunisia. Faculty members and students from Ningxia Normal University went to Tunisia for academic exchanges. A Ningxia-Tunisia Youth Camp was jointly held. Tunisian delegations consisting of representatives from business, education, culture sectors and friendly organizations also visited Ningxia and attended the China-Arab States Expo. Since the outbreak of COVID-19, the two sides have exchanged messages of support and planned exchange and cooperation programs online in an effort to further develop their friendship.
